KESL 0715 - Advanced I Listening/Speaking

Contact Hours: 120
This course develops academic listening and speaking skills for advanced level students who are interested in pursuing an academic degree at Salt Lake Community College. Learners work on the following academic language outcomes:  general academic vocabulary development, academic listening skills development, development of effective note-taking, and academic discussion and academic presentation skills. Students are introduced to authentic academic content-based lectures and texts. Activities include giving formal presentations, engaging in small group discussions, and reporting on basic research.

Prerequisite: Appropriate placement score or successful completion of KESL 0315  with a score of 73% or better
