Program Description
This program prepares students to work in the outpatient medical coding areas of hospitals, larger medical clinics, and doctors’ offices. It provides basic clerical training in computer concepts, customer service, word processing, business communications, job-seeking skills, medical terminology, anatomy, medical law & ethics, medical insurance/Pharmacology, medical office software, outpatient medical coding, and spreadsheets. Students are also provided an externship.

Program Entry Requirements
Prospective students must have been assessed (TABE) within 90 days prior to enrollment:
- Reading: 10.0
- Math: 8.0
- Keyboarding speed of 30 CWPM (correct words per minute) on a 5 minute timing.
- 10 Key speed of 5,000 sph (strokes per hour) on a 5-minute timing with 98% accuracy.
