SOC 1020 - Social Problems (SS) Credits: 3 SOC 1020 examines social problems such as deviance & crime, inequality, sexuality, physical and mental health, racism, war, and immigration. Various sociological perspectives, most notably the paradigms of conflict theory, functionalism, and symbolic interactionism, are applied to better understand causes and consequences. Strategies and techniques for addressing social problems will be discussed.
