Program Description
This degree is designed for students who are interested in a variety of non-clinical health-related careers. This program will provide students with a solid foundational understanding of the healthcare system and professions within that system. Students completing this program will have the opportunity for direct transfer for baccalaureate degrees in fields such as Public Health, Community Health, and Health Administration. This degree may also be used in conjunction with a licensing or certificate program to enhance the students understanding of the healthcare system in general and provide basic leadership training.
Career Opportunities
An EMSI Data Set run on career posting in related fields, specifically Medical and Health Services Managers1, Health Educators2 and Community Health Workers3 show a current need for this type of training with a median reported salary of $50K. Although some of these jobs are available with associate level training, most require bachelor level training, with some requiring graduate level education. The Community Health and Leadership AS degree provides background and transfer pathways for all levels of training in these areas.
Although the intent is for this to be a transfer degree, with clear articulation agreements in place before enrolling students, without transfer there are still job opportunities for students including:
- Community Health Worker, expected salary $22/hr3
