Program Description
This Certified Electronics Technician program will provide the valued skills set required by industries involved in all aspects of the sector, such as; advanced manufacturing, medical, building automation, aviation, service, maintenance, and renewable energy. The program will provide the student with the skills set to obtain entry-level positions as Technicians, and support additional specialized education such as Robotics, Automation and Instrumentation, Communications, and Electronics Engineering. The student will be able to demonstrate proficiency in circuit’s concepts, electrical theory, calculations, circuit and component characteristics, circuit construction, test/measurements, schematic diagrams, troubleshooting, instrumentation and analysis, as they relate to CORE fundamentals. The program was designed to provide educational experiences that will engage, enrich, and provide a solid foundation for entry into a wide variety of Electronics Technologies fields, covering subjects such as Soldering Electronic Assemblies, Mathematics, and Technical Writing. Students learn the skills required of an Electronics Technician, and the ability to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair modern electronic systems. The program capstone is obtainment of the CET certificate as proof of this CORE knowledge base, this industry certification represents the same knowledge obtained by an A.A.S. degree in Electronics.

Career Opportunities
There are a wide variety of career occupations associated with Electronics, as many careers are dependent upon the CORE skills set, as well as specialized training. Occupations are usually grouped to a certain O- Net code, that ties togther related skills and responsibilities.

  • 17-3024.00 - Electro-Mechanical Technicians
  • 17-3024.01 - Robotics Technicians
  • 17-3023.01 - Electronics Engineering Technicians
  • 17-3029.04 - Electronics Engineering Technologists
  • 49-2094.00 - Electrical and Electronics Repairers, Commercial and Industrial Equipment
  • 51-2022.00 - Electrical and Electronic Equipment Assemblers
