Program Description
Students with an aptitude in creative problem solving, drawing, design, photography and/or computer related visual communication should consider this rapidly expanding and competitive field. The Visual Art & Design Department allows students to specialize in the following areas: Animation, Graphic Design, Illustration, Multimedia, Photography, Web Design, and Graphic Communication Technology.
Students who elect to pursue a Certificate of Proficiency Gave Development will prepare themselves to for entry level work in a related profession. Game Development technical artists find varied careers in the creation of digital 2D and 3D art and animation in the video game, film, broadcast, visual effects, mobile, and internet industries. The Certificates of Proficiency in Game Design or Motion Graphics may be used as stackable credentials for the Visual Art & Design Animation AS or AAS degrees.
Career Opportunities
Upon completion of program, students may qualify for work as assistants or junior technical artists in various media fields using game engines or 3D art.
Transfer/Articulation Information
This certificate is currently not transferable to four year institutions; however, some of the General Education components are transferable. The Visual Art & Design Department is committed to general and preprofessional programs and some credit may be granted by receiving institutions on a per case basis.

Estimated Time to Completion
Time to completion is 2 semesters based on a full-time minimum of 12 credits per semester. Less than 12 credits per semester will increase time to completion.
Program Entry Requirements
Required: High School Diploma or equivalent
Recommended: Artistic and technical aptitude, familiarity with traditional drawing, Photoshop, Math, and basic programming helpful.
