Program Description
The Business Administration AAS degree prepares students to enter the workplace with skills in a variety of areas. The School of Business offers Certificates of Proficiency (CP) in the following areas:

  • Business
  • Accounting
  • Computer Science and Information Systems
  • Culinary Arts
  • Finance
  • Management
  • Marketing

General Education 15 credits + Business Basics CP  18 credits + Essentials CP 15 credits + Specialized CP 16 credits = General Business AAS 64 credits

Choose the Business Basics CP  and any two (2) of the Essentials Certificates of Proficiency or the Business Basics CP  with one (1) Essentials and one (1) Specialized Certificate of Proficiency in the same discipline listed below. Completion of the General Education requirements (15 CREDITS MINIMUM), the Business Basics CP  (18 CREDITS MINIMUM) and two (2) Certificates of Proficiency (31 CREDITS MINIMUM) allows a student to be eligible to apply for an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Business Administration.

Career Opportunities
With a degree in business administration, students have had exposure to a broad range of business related subjects such as accounting, sales, management, economics, finance, and marketing. Because of this, graduates are qualified for entry-level positions in many of these varied professions.

Transfer/Articulation Information
This is a 2-year terminal degree not designed to transfer. Several courses are transferable to other institutions. Students should check with a business advisor or the receiving institution to determine credit transferability.

Advising Notes


Students who need to take preparatory classes to meet the requirements of first semester courses should plan on extra time to complete the program. SLCC may waive any class in the preparatory skills if students can demonstrate equivalent skills. It is the student’s responsibility to:

  • examine each course description for details of prerequisite classes.
  • satisfy those prerequisites before taking the designated class.
