Program Description
This program provides a solid foundation for students desiring to enter the electronics engineering technician field. Students learn the skills required of an electronic engineering technician, to support engineers involved in R&D, design, and manufacturing. The program covers programming with embedded controllers, introduction to robotics with industry applications and programming, schematic capture and circuit simulation. Courses also cover printed circuit board design and prototyping using software and PCB milling machines/systems. In addition, the program includes National Instruments Lab VIEW software, a widely used industry applications for programming Virtual Instruments, test and measurement, and controls.

Completion of SAT Certified Electronics Technician - Certificate of Proficiency or A.A.S., A.S. degree in Electronics Technology/Electronics Engineering Technology.
TABE Test Required:

  • Reading: 8.0
  • Math: 10.0

Recommended Ability to apply Basic Computer Literacy and to distinguish differences in colors, as these are abilities used in electronics technologies.

Demonstrate mastery of competency for Robotics in Automated Manufacturing, Robot Classification Groups, Robotic System Components, Robot Manipulators/End-of-Arm Tooling, Vision, Industry Safety Standards, I/O, and Industry Applications, Operation, Programming, Handling, Quality/Production Control and Work-Cells.

Demonstrate mastery of competency for Embedded Controllers fundamentals, Including, hardware design, programming of controllers, interfacing and loading, editing, and debugging of program code.

Demonstrate mastery of competency for usage and application of NI Design Suite Circuit Schematic capture and simulation software (Multisim).

Demonstrate mastery of competency for usage and application of NI Design Suite Ultiboard for printed circuit board design and fabrication (PCB). Proficiency with PCB hardware and software is also required.

Demonstrate mastery of competency for usage of LabVIEW to create and utilize the application features for data acquisition, analysis, display applications, charts, graphs and buttons. Use the programming structures and data types, Apply basic design templates and architectures for applications, use various editing and debugging techniques, Create their own Vis, and obtain LabVIEW Associate Developer Certification.
