The School of Applied Technology at Salt Lake Community College provides quality career and technical education in a flexible, competency-based format to meet the needs of students who desire low-cost training for high-skill job fields. Programs are responsive to business and industry requirements resulting in appropriate licensure, certification, or evidence of completion. Applied Technology programs specialize in non-credit, open-entry, open-exit instructional delivery. This means students may enroll weekly depending on the school calendar and available seats, and are able to complete courses when proficiency has been demonstrated and evaluated by instructors.
Description: The College Academic Readiness Center offers individualized self-directed instruction in basic education. Topics include reading, writing, and math. Students are eligible to enroll to improve their skills in preparation for college classes, certificate training programs or the GED.
Entry Requirements: Students must demonstrate basic education skills as assessed by the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) or CPT ACCUPLACER:
- TABE Reading: 4.0
- TABE Math: 4.0
- CPT Reading: 36
- CPT Math: 26
- CASAS 236 or above for ESL Learners
