Paraeducation courses are taught by a combination of faculty members from the departments of Education, Family & Human Studies and qualified adjunct instructors familiar with the education of students at risk.

**PLEASE NOTE THAT THE PARAEDUCATION PROGRAM IS SCHEDULED TO BE DISCONTIUTED EFFECTIVE SUMMER SEMESTER 2015.**

Program Description: This program is designed to prepare students to work as paraeducators in public school districts under the direction of certified classroom educators. Paraeducators who have taken the courses listed below assist classroom teachers by providing instructional support to students receiving specialized services (Title I and/or special education) in K-12 classrooms. This program qualifies for requirements of the Federal “No Child Left Behind” Act.

Students who do not desire to transfer and/or obtain an associate degree can obtain a Paraeducation Certificate of Completion. To obtain the certificate, students will be required to complete the core courses with a grade of C or better.

Estimated Cost for Students: Estimated cost of books per semester $350.

NOTE: This Certificate of Proficiency is not eligible for financial aid. However, courses within the certificate may be eligible if taken as part of a financial aid eligible program. Please check with the Financial Aid Office to determine if your classes are eligible.

Estimated Time to Completion: If students follow the suggested sample schedule, completion time is two semesters.
