ARCH 2212 - Survey of World Architecture I Credits: 3 This course intends to familiarize students with the works of architecture within the timeframe of 3500 BCE to 1200 CE. The course provides students with the geographical, historical, and social contexts of great and modest structures, and it explores how design flourished within and from the constraints and parameters of the time. We dive into the study of means and methods of each time period, how new developments in materials and technology informed design, how worldwide events affected local and global cultures, and how architecture becomes a mirror of the world around it.
