Plan of Study
The following is a plan of requirements to complete this Associate of Arts degree in two years. Each student’s experience will vary slightly, as this plan does not include transfer work, Advanced Placement (AP), or other institutions’ concurrent enrollment credits. Math and English placement will be based on the student’s appropriate placement scores. If developmental courses are required, they should be taken in the student’s first semester.
NOTE: This plan assumes the student is prepared to take the courses listed. If prerequisites are required, additional semesters may be required to complete this degree.
Meet with the Academic Program Advisor and consult DegreeWorks for specific degree requirements.

Choosing General Education Courses
- A course with a general education designation can be applied as general education credit OR business program credit, but not both.
- ECON 2020 Principles of Macroeconomics (SS) is the recommended Social Science course, as it is required for transfer to some of our transfer partners.
Choosing Business AA Program Electives
- Choose program electives based on the requirements of your intended transfer institution. Your Gail Miller Business School academic advisor can help you.
- If consistent with your transfer plans, BUS 1020 GMBS First Year and Beyond or MKTG 1960 Professionalism in Business is recommended for your first semester program elective.
Preparatory Courses and Prerequisites
- Students who need to take preparatory courses may need additional time to complete the program. For example, students may need additional math or English courses to be prepared for MATH 1050/1090 and ENGL 1010.
- Some courses have prerequisite requirements. Students are responsible for reading each course description to check for prerequisites and for meeting the prerequisites of each course before taking it.
Language (LN)
- Associate of Arts students must complete a second-semester language course – these will be at the 1020 level and have the (LN) designation. Students with no previous language experience will need to complete a 1010 level LN course first. Speak to an advisor about experiential language credit or placing into higher-level language courses.
- Students who want to earn a BA degree after transfer from SLCC are advised to take a language that the chosen school offers as upper-division courses. Not all colleges and universities offer all languages; consult with the transfer school’s language department.
