Plan of Study 2020-2021
The following is a plan of requirements to complete this Associate of Applied Science degree in 3 years. Each student’s experience will vary slightly, as this plan does not include transfer work, Advanced Placement (AP), or other institutions’ concurrent enrollment credits. Math and English placement will be based on the student’s appropriate placement scores. If developmental courses are required, they should be taken in the student’s first semester.
NOTE: This plan assumes the student is prepared to take the courses listed. If prerequisites are required, additional semesters may be required to complete this degree.
Meet with the Academic Program Advisor and consult DegreeWorks for specific degree requirements.

Advising Notes
All classes in the first two semesters of this schedule are offered ALL SEMESTERS* – Fall, Spring & Summer. A Flexible Semester in Summer may be used should a student desire fewer classes in the previous Fall & Spring Semesters or should they need to retake a course, and keep on track. *Dependent upon enrollment.
Each course may only be used once to fulfill elective or general education distribution area requirement.
Students wishing to transfer in program-related credit(s) are required to have a portfolio review completed; also, to submit prior transcripts.
Students should work with a faculty advisor to choose electives and projects carefully to develop a working competency of both the art and technologies involved in at least one specific area of the discipline they wish to work.
Students should check the semester class schedule on the Internet at www.slcc.edu for availability and modifications caused by varying enrollment. Required departmental classes are not offered every semester. To graduate in two years, students are encouraged to follow the recommended sequence.
Some courses may require prerequisites not required for completion of the program and not listed in the Recommended Sequence or degree requirements. Students wishing to take those courses should plan on extra time to complete the prerequisites. Students who need to take preparatory classes to meet the requirements of courses should plan on extra time to complete the program.
It is the student’s responsibility to examine each course description for details of prerequisite classes. Those prerequisites must be satisfied before the designated class may be taken. All prerequisite courses must be completed with a C or better grade to continue in the program. A student may be dropped from a class if the prerequisite has not been completed. If progress is not deemed satisfactory, students will be counseled and/or given probationary status. Students or professionals wishing to register for a class in which a prerequisite class is required but has not been taken, should contact the instructor about acquiring possible approval to register for the class.
Not all Visual Art & Design (ART) classes may be audited. This is especially true for any Visual Art & Design class that has a prerequisite (see course catalog for a list of prerequisite classes). Auditing a prerequisite course does not guarantee that the student has mastered the required skills needed for the next level class. Some Visual Art & Design classes that have a prerequisite may be audited if the student can demonstrate an appropriate skill level to the instructor before registering for the class.
Students wishing to audit any Visual Art & Design (ART) class without officially completing a prerequisite class (with a ‘C’ grade or better) must obtain signed permission from the instructor or email authorization before registering for the class. Visual Art & Design (ART) classes that do not have a prerequisite may be audited as per the Auditing Classes guidelines listed in the SLCC catalog.
