Program Description
The General Studies Associate of Science degree is SLCC’s most flexible transfer program and is designed for students who either have not decided upon a major or need to customize their courses for transfer to a specific baccalaureate degree program. Students who have not yet chosen a major are encouraged to explore their interests by selecting courses from a variety of disciplines. Students who have identified a future major may select classes that satisfy specific prerequisite and pre-major requirements for their intended baccalaureate degree. Since different universities have different degree requirements, students are encouraged to select appropriate courses that will satisfy requirements at their anticipated transfer institution.
The General Studies Associate of Science degree requires a minimum of 61 semester hours of transferable credit with a cumulative grade-point average of 2.0 or better (2.5 or better is recommended).
Transfer/Articulation Information
Admission into a major program at a transfer institution depends upon the receiving institution’s requirements for that major. Some major programs are restricted and require special application as well as a competitive GPA. See an Academic Advisor at both SLCC and the intended receiving institution for specific articulation information, also available at www.slcc.edu/academicadvising/transfercenter.
Estimated Cost for Students
There is no additional cost for this program beyond SLCC tuition and fees.
Estimated Time to Completion
If students follow the suggested sample schedule, completion time is four semesters.
