Program Description
The Interdisciplinary Studies degree is designed for students of varied interests in a major not currently offered at SLCC. Option 1) Students will complete two blocks of twelve credits from two disciplines (24 total) to build their major. Option 2) Student will create their own major consisting of twenty-four credits. Students in either option must complete thirty-four credits of General Education. Students are required to take the one credit IDS 1050 Foundations of Interdisciplinary Studies course and the two-credit IDS 2050 Capstone Course. Students will work closely with an Academic Advisor to certify their path to graduation and transfer.
Career Opportunities
Students of Interdisciplinary Studies have the opportunity to create a major that allows them to transfer or enter the workforce after graduation.

Program Entry Requirements
This is a selective admission program. Degree plan and integrated block of disciplines must be approved by the program Advisor. Students must complete all General Education requirements. Students must complete the 1-credit IDS 1050 Introduction to Interdisciplinary Studies within their first two semesters, and the 2-credit IDS 2050 Interdisciplinary Studies Capstone course after they have completed two semesters in the program. Students must complete their Capstone Course Project into their ePortfolio. No pass/fail course may be used toward the IDS degree without prior approval.
Enrollment Process for Interdisciplinary Studies Degree
Admission information for SLCC Interdisciplinary Studies Degree is available on the program website at: http://slcc.edu/interdisciplinary-studies/. The program uses a selective admissions process, separate from the general college admissions process, in order to provide a clear pathway to graduation and transfer to USHE institutions. There is no additional cost to apply for this degree.
Students will complete a degree pathway for their major that focuses on graduation and transferability.
Students must meet with the Honors and Interdisciplinary Studies Coordinator for approval of their plan.

Upon Enrollment Students Must Complete the Following:
Students have two options they must choose from in developing their major: Option 1) involves completing two blocks of twenty-four credits from two academic disciplines. Option 2) is to complete twenty-four credits in a specific academic discipline. Both are options are intended to create a major that suits the career and educational interests of the student that is not currently offered at SLCC.
Students must complete the required 34 General Education requirements of SLCC.
Students cannot pursue the Interdisciplinary Studies degree to replace or substitute a current SLCC program.
Students must enroll and complete the one-credit IDS 1050 Introduction to Interdisciplinary Studies within their first semester at SLCC.
Students must enroll and complete the two-credit IDS 2050 Capstone Course after completing 50 credits of their plan. Additionally, students must complete their Capstone Course Project into their ePortfolio.
No pass/fail course may be used toward the IDS degree without prior approval.
