Program Description
This is a comprehensive one year Certificate of Completion program designed to train students with very little mechanical or electrical knowledge and prepare them for the fast-growing motorcycle, outdoor power equipment and recreational vehicle service and repair industry. The program will also prepare students for the Equipment and Engine Training Council/Outdoor Power Equipment (EETC/OPE) certifications.  

Students will study engine operation theory, electrical, drive train, suspension systems, fuel injection, carburetors, turbo charging and service and maintenance procedures. The program challenges and prepares students to become specialists in the service, repair and tuning of small gasoline engines.  

All students enrolled in the program are encouraged to participate in SkillsUSA. This program is designed to promote leadership, communication, social, and employability skills.

Transfer/Articulation
Students who complete the Motorcycle and Outdoor Power Equipment Technology Certificate of Completion may continue on to earn and Associate of Applied Science or Associate of Science Transfer Emphasis. Upon completion of the AAS or AS options students may transfer to UVU to complete their BS in the Technology Management Program or in Integrated Studies.

Program Entry Requirements
Students may start this program Fall or Spring semester. 

General Education Requirements


Certificates of Completion contain instructional components in communication, computation, and human relations.

REQUIRED:

Communication: any approved Communication (CM)  course.

Computation: any approved Quantitative Studies (QS)  course.

Human Relations: any approved Human Relations (HR)  course.

Note: Additional General Education courses are required for students who choose to continue on to the AAS or AS degrees.  Additional requirements include English Composition and courses in the Gen Ed Distribution Areas.  For course selection, see the School of Technical Specialties Academic Advisor.
