Program Description
Those working in Technical Apparel fields are involved in almost every stage of product development, including specifications, grading, patternmaking, sample making, fit, and production. They often work as part of a fashion design team, working closely with designers, manufacturers and merchandisers, and are integral to the production of a high-quality product. A sharp eye for fashion and a solid understanding of patternmaking are necessary for success in this field.

Students electing to pursue an AAS Degree in Technical Apparel will acquire skills and hands-on training such as pattern drafting, draping, apparel production, and creating “tech pacs,” using industry specific equipment in order to prepare them for Technical Apparel career pathways. Additionally, students will learn about important industry topics such as sustainability and social responsibility. Students will be prepared for entry-level work in a wide range of careers such as technical designers, sample makers, and pattern technicians.
