Program Description
This degree is designed for students who are interested in a variety of non-clinical health-related careers. This program will provide students with a solid foundational understanding of the healthcare system and professions within that system. Students completing this program will have the opportunity for direct transfer for baccalaureate degrees in fields such as Public Health, Community Health, Health Administration. This degree may also be used in conjunction with a licensing or certificate program to enhance the students understanding of the healthcare system in general and provide basic leadership training.
Career Opportunities
An EMSI Data Set run on career posting in related fields, specifically Medical and Health Services Managers, Health Educators and Community Health Workers show a current need for this type of training in our area with a median reported salary in Northern Utah of $60.9K. Although some of these jobs were for associate level training (10%), most were requiring bachelor level training (61%). The remainder needed Master or PhD level training, which the BS transfer degree will provide background for this level training if a student wishes to pursue it.
Although the intent is for this to be a transfer degree, with clear articulation agreements in place before enrolling students, without transfer there are still job opportunities for students including:
