Program Description

This program is designed to meet the immediate needs of workforce training for the Advanced Manufacturing sectors. This program will prepare individuals to fill the needs in the Robotics Technician job area, and related job titles such as; Automation Technician, Electrical and Instrumentation Technician (E and I Technician), Field Service Technician, Instrument and Automation Technician, Instrument Specialist, Instrument Technician, Instrumentation and Controls Technician, Instrumentation and Process Controls Technician, Process Control Technician, Programmable Logic Controllers Technician. These Technicians may build, install, test, or maintain robotic equipment or related automated production systems.

The KAIT 0118 (PLCs II) course will provide continuing education and offer training covering newer PLC platforms and hardware. 

The program includes two industry supported courses that will lead to industry certification for Robotics. The KAIT 0103 course and the program is completed by the KAIT0104. Demonstration of proficiency results in FANUC Certification for Robotics iRVision 2D.

Recommendation is previous PLC experience or training, covering SLCC500 platforms and ladder logic applications.

Time to Completion


Time to completion for full-time students at 24 hrs/week, would be approximately 16 weeks or 4 months. Time to completion for part-time students at 12 hrs/week, would be approximately 32 weeks or 8 months.

  • The student will be able to demonstrate the mastery of competency for the programming, setup, connection, operation, editing, for PLC motor control and other applications. Apply basic PanelView Plus terminal operation/Human Machine Interface [HMI] and programming. PLC instruction set, to include, PLC Timer and Counter Instructions, Program Control Instructions, and Analog/Digital inputs and outputs. [1,3,4,9]
  • The student will be able to demonstrate the mastery of competency for FANUC Robotics Handling Tool System, setup, record and/or troubleshoot programs, power up and jog the robot, load, run and test various programs as applied to industry applications.
