Program Description
This certificate program is part of the music program’s participation in the college-wide “stackable credentials” initiative to create certificates that reflect student achievement even when students have not completed an entire degree program. This certificate represents the recording technology-only portion of a proposed Music Recording Technology AAS degree (meaning this certificate requires no additional musical training such as theory and no GE requirements that would be included in the AAS degree). The certificate represents proficiency working with digital audio recording equipment and related software applications (specifically digital audio workstations).

Career Opportunities
Students completing the certificate program will have received training that will help to prepare them to work as a recording engineer in a music recording studio and for freelance work as a sound designer for live concert productions. Students may also find freelance work in the allied fields of sound design/synthesis, film sound, songwriting, composition and arranging, although this certificate will not prepare them specifically for those jobs.
