Program Description
An Associate of Science degree can be earned through the study of Mathematics. It requires a minimum of 66 credit hours of coursework, including 22 hours of mathematics courses and 8 hours of physics courses. All classes are transferable to other schools in the state system of higher education and most other universities and colleges. These courses will prepare a student for completion of a mathematics or mathematics education degree at a four-year institution. Students in this program also complete all General Education requirements, which have an additional 35 credit hours, minimum.
Math Department Live-Proctoring Testing Rule: All math department exams, regular exams or the final exam, must be live-proctored for all modalities offered through the department. Online and broadcast students are required to take their exams at an SLCC testing center facility or, if outside a 50-mile radius, coordinate with the testing center for a proctoring site nearer to their home. Any accommodations to this rule must be approved by the SLCC Disability Resource Center. Students are encouraged to make arrangements early in a semester with employers and families to ensure they are free during the scheduled exam period.
Transfer/Articulation Information
Requirements at four-year colleges and universities are subject to change; ongoing planning is essential. Admission into a major program at a transfer institution depends upon the receiving institution’s requirements for that major. Some major programs are restricted and require special application as well as a competitive GPA. See an Academic Advisor at both SLCC and the intended receiving institution for specific articulation information.
