Program Description

This program is designed to meet the immediate needs of workforce training for the Advanced Manufacturing sectors. This program will prepare individuals to fill the needs in the Robotics Technician job area, and related job titles such as; Automation Technician, Electrical and Instrumentation Technician (E and I Technician), Field Service Technician, Instrument and Automation Technician, Instrument Specialist, Instrument Technician, Instrumentation and Controls Technician, Instrumentation and Process Controls Technician, Process Control Technician, Programmable Logic Controllers Technician. These Technicians may build, install, test, or maintain robotic equipment or related automated production systems.

The KAIT 0118 Programmable Logic Controllers II (PLCs II) course will provide continuing education and offer training covering newer PLC platforms and hardware. The course covers the CompactLogix, covering the programming, setup and connection, operation, editing, for PLC motor control and other applications. Course will also cover basic PanelView Plus terminal operation/Human Machine Interface (HMI) and programming. PLC instruction set, to include, PLC Timer and Counter Instructions, Program Control Instructions, and Analog/Digital inputs and outputs.

The KAIT 0102 Introduction to Robotics introductory course covers Robotics in Automated Manufacturing, Robot Classification Groups, Robotic System Components, Robot Manipulators/End-of-Arm Tooling, Vision, Industry Safety Standards, I/O, and Industry Applications. Coverage of Operation, Programming, Handling, Quality/Production Control and Work-Cells. The course will include a variety of Performance-Based projects.
The program includes two industry supported courses that will lead to industry certification for Robotics. The KAIT 0103 course CERT I - Robot Handling Tools covers the tasks that an operator, technician, engineer who needs to setup, record and/or troubleshoot programs on a FANUC Robotics Handling Tool System. The student will learn to power up and jog the robot, load, run and test various programs as applied to industry applications. Demonstration of proficiency results in FANUC Certification for Handling Tool Operations and Programming.

The program is completed by the KAIT0104 CERT II - Robotics iRVision 2D, this course covers the basic tasks and procedures required for an operator, technician, engineer or programmer to set up, teach, test, and modify iRVision applications. Upon successful completion of this course, the student can identify the components of a vision system, install vision hardware, develop an application, program the robot, perform error recovery procedures and follow recommended safety practices. Demonstration of proficiency results in FANUC Certification for Robotics iRVision 2D.
