Students learn the skills to become an aircraft electronics technician, commonly referred to as an avionics technician. This new program also helps A & P students enhance their skills in Aviation Maintenance. Students will gain experience and knowledge as it relates to advanced systems for modern aircraft as well as legacy aircraft. Newer aircraft are becoming more advanced and complex every year due to advancing technology and FAA standards. This requires specialized knowledge for maintenance. Students use advanced test equipment, computers, and develop good troubleshooting skills. This course will specifically focus on NCATT AET (National Center for Aerospace & Transportation Technologies - Aircraft Electronics Technician) certification with endorsements that show a high standard of training and knowledge.
Avionics Technicians are employed with General Aviation, Business Aircraft, or Airlines. Would also assist Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) mechanics that get specialized Avionics training to be more marketable.
As an elective to any USHE institution. Currently no other USHE institutions teach specialized avionics courses, USU does have an FCC license test prep.

|Students will demonstrate basic concepts of Aircraft Electronics and prepare to take NCATT AET(Aircraft Electronics Technician) certification.

|Students will demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to pass the NCATT AET endorsements: “Autonomous Navigation Systems”, “Dependant Navigation Systems”, “Onboard Communications and Safety Systems”, and “Radio Communications Systems”. In addition to FCC General Radio Operators License test.

|Students will utilize computers and specialized test equipment as used in Avionics Maintenance, i.e. uploading software and downloading information for troubleshooting.
