Program Description
The Associate of Applied Science degree in Radiologic Technology leads to a national certification and state licensure. The program offers students didactic and clinical experiences to learn skills of an entry-level radiographer. Radiology courses are taught at Jordan Health Sciences building, Jordan Campus and clinical education occurs at local health care facilities. Students can complete General Education classes at any SLCC Campus location.

Career Opportunities
Radiographers provide patient services using imaging modalities at the request of physicians qualified to prescribe and/or perform radiologic procedures. A radiographer performs radiographic procedures, applies principles of radiation protection, evaluates radiographs for technical quality, exercises professional judgment and provides patient care. Radiographers can find employment in hospitals, clinics, private offices, industry and public health facilities.

Program Entry Requirements

ADMISSIONS PROCESS

1. Be admitted to SLCC as a matriculated student. See http://www.slcc.edu/apply/index.aspx
2. High School Graduate or equivalent.
3. For transfer credit, submit OFFICIAL, SEALED transcripts for ALL colleges and universities where prerequisite course work has been completed. Send to:

4. Also, a request to have an OFFICIAL evaluation of student’s transcript must be submitted to the SLCC Transfer Evaluation Office. The form is located at : http://www.slcc.edu/transcriptevaluation/. This process may take 4-6 weeks and must be completed before a student’s application will be considered.
5. Complete appropriate placement exam, or submit current SAT/ACT test scores, if MATH and ENGL course work have not been transferred to SLCC (required before you are able to register for classes that have MATH and ENGL courses as prerequisites). See: www.slcc.edu/testing

6. Program course prerequisites are as follows (Courses listed below (or equivalent transfer credit, AP or CLEP) must be completed with a C grade or better with the exception of BIOL 2320 and BIOL 2325 which must be completed with a B- grade or better within the past five years. All courses are limited to two attempts within the past 5 years):

• MATH 1010 - Intermediate Algebra (QS)  or
  Any Quantitative Literacy (QL); except MATH 1030 Quantitative Reasoning (QL) 
  MATH 1040 Intro to Statistics (QL)  (Preferred)
• BIOL 1610 College Biology I (LS)  & BIOL 1615 College Biology I Lab  
• BIOL 2320 - Human Anatomy  & BIOL 2325 - Human Anatomy Lab  
• RADS 1010 - Intro to Radiologic Technology  

NOTE:  All prerequisite courses must be completed prior to submitting application for the Radiologic Technology program. It is the student’s responsibility to examine each course description for details of other prerequisite classes. Those prerequisites must be satisfied before the designated program prerequisite course may be taken.

RADIOLOGIC TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM SELECTIVE ADMISSONS APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

Completion of the prerequisites allows students to apply to the program.  Application submission does not guarantee admission to the program. Students should see the Radiologic Technology academic advisor for further information.

Pre-admission exam - A minimum score of 75% is required for consideration for admission to the program. However, this does not guarantee admission into the program. Please see the Radiologic Technology program academic advisor with questions.

AP Credit: AP scores of 3 or higher for a prerequisite course will be considered for admission into the program; however, this does not guarantee acceptance into the program.  Please see the Radiologic Technology program academic advisor with questions.

Must be at least 18 years of age. Required by the State Regulations to energize x-ray equipment.

Specialized Accreditation
The program is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT), 20 N. Wacker Dr., Suite 2850, Chicago, IL 60606-3182. Graduates are eligible to take the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) examination in Radiography.

Licensure Information
Graduation from the Radiologic Technology program does not guarantee the ability to obtain a Utah state license to practice as a Radiologic Technologist. Licensure is the exclusive right and responsibility of each state.  In order to work as a Radiologic Technologist, students must satisfy individual state requirements, independent of SLCC graduation requirements. It is highly recommended that students consult in advance with the Utah Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing (DOPL), or similar agencies in other states, to find out more about eligibility for licensure. If you have difficulty finding the licensure requirements for your state, please contact your academic advisor or SLCC’s state authorization coordinator for help.
