The Fashion Design curriculum has been developed by a faculty of practicing professionals and advisory boards of industry leaders. It is continually evolving in response to changes in the field, offering the latest trends, skills, and technology students need to succeed in the global economy. It also provides a firm foundation in the liberal arts.
The Fashion Design Program prepares students for careers in fashion design for the apparel industry. The curriculum stimulates creative expression in all aspects of fashion design, including fashion sketching, creative design, computer applications, draping, and pattern drafting. Students will understand the importance of communication and critical reasoning and the effect they have on this diversified and global industry.
The Fashion Design Associate of Applied Science degree will prepare students for employment in the fashion industry. In addition, many students study fashion design for personal enrichment as it enables them to design and make their own custom clothing or perform alterations.

Approximately $6000 in tuition and $800 in books and supplies.

If students follow the suggested semester schedule, time to completion is five semesters.

|Students demonstrate knowledge in the history of fashion and the basic theoriesof fashion design (color, line, shape, texture, scale, and proportion), patternmaking, illustration, and construction of garments.
|Students exhibit professionalism through high quality presentations; effective sales techniques; efficient organization; and work cooperatively with clients and co-workers.
|Students demonstrate knowledge of the various employment options available through internships.
|Students demonstrate knowledge of high quality portfolios that can be used for job applications. Portfolios will reflect class work and projects completed during internships.
|Students demonstrate proficiency in examining trends, drawing designs based on their ideas, choosing colors and fabrics, and supervising the production of their designs
