ANTH 1070 - Language & Culture: Introduction to Linguistic Anthropology (SS) Credits: 3 Explores the nature of human language in comparison to animal communication and examines its role in sociocultural settings as it relates to race, ethnicity, gender, class, history, and identity. Surveys a world sample of languages from the perspective of anthropological linguistics including language structure, social functions, geographical and historical variation, and cultural values.
