Plan of Study

The following is a plan of requirements to complete this Associate of Science degree in 2 years. Each student’s experience will vary slightly, as this plan does not include transfer work, Advanced Placement (AP), or other institutions’ concurrent enrollment credits. Math and English placement will be based on the student’s appropriate placement scores. If developmental courses are required, they should be taken in the student’s first semester.

NOTE: This plan assumes the student is prepared to take the courses listed. If prerequisites are required, additional semesters may be required to complete this degree.

Meet with the Academic Program Advisor and consult DegreeWorks for specific degree requirements.

Advising Notes

  • This emphasis is designed for transfer to the University of Utah BS Atmospheric Sciences program as well as the University of Utah BS Earth and Environmental Sciences – Climate Science Emphasis. The requirements for each of these programs are different, so students are encouraged to contact their intended transfer institution and department for up-to-date program information.
  • Students should begin taking their placement MATH class as soon as possible. Students needing to take preparatory MATH classes to meet prerequisites of first semester courses should plan on extra time for program completion. Several courses in the program require pre- requisites, so students should include sequencing of courses in their course planning.
  • Some of the junior (5000) level courses in the University of Utah ATMO courses have prerequisites of MATH 1220 and PHYS 2210.
