Plan of Study
The following is a plan of requirements to complete this Associate of Science degree in 2 years. Each student’s experience will vary slightly, as this plan does not include transfer work, Advanced Placement (AP), or other institutions’ concurrent enrollment credits. Math and English placement will be based on the student’s appropriate placement scores. If developmental courses are required, they should be taken in the student’s first semester.
NOTE: This plan assumes the student is prepared to take the courses listed. If prerequisites are required, additional semesters may be required to complete this degree.
Meet with the Academic Program Advisor and consult DegreeWorks for specific degree requirements.

Advising Notes
It is strongly recommended that students meet with an advisor during their first semester to plan the appropriate pathway for the ultimate goal that they would like to achieve. The Earth and Environmental Science – Ecosystem Emphasis is designed for students who wish to pursue career fields such as environmental science, wildlife management, fisheries, or forestry.
Students who need to take preparatory classes to meet the requirements of first semester courses should plan on extra time to complete the program.
ADDITIONAL PROGRAM NOTES
- Students wishing to transfer to the Environmental & Sustainability Studies B.S. at the University of Utah should note that only 12 credit hours total can be transferred from another university into their program and only 4 credit hours of those can be lower division. Therefore, we recommend students consider the Earth & Environmental Science B.S. program instead as the EES AS program is designed to transfer all 60 credits and prepare students to enter as a Junior at the University of Utah. If students still want to pursue the Environmental & Sustainability Studies B.S. at the University of Utah, it is highly recommended that students speak to an advisor at the University of Utah as soon as possible.
- Students wishing to transfer to the Earth & Environmental Science B.S. at the University of Utah should take both ENVS 1400 & 1405 because when taken together, they are equivalent to GEO1120 at UofU. Additionally, the EES AS emphases align with the emphases in the Earth & Environmental Science B.S. at UofU.
- Students wishing to transfer to the Environmental Science and Management B.S. – Environmental Science Track at Utah Valley University should take ENVS 1400 & 1405, CHEM 1210 & 1215, CHEM 1220 & 1225, ATMO 1010, BIOL 1610 & 1615, BIOL 1620 & 1625, BIOL 2220 & 2225, MATH 1050 and MATH 2040, and PHYS 2010 or PHYS 2210. ENVS 1400 & 1405 combined are equivalent to ENVT 1110 at UVU. BIOL 2220 is equivalent to BIOL 3700 at UVU.
- Students wishing to transfer to the Environmental Science B.S. at Weber State University should take ENVS 1400 & 1405, GEO 1110 & 1115, CHEM 1210 & 1215, CHEM 1220 & 1225, BIOL 1610 & 1615, BIOL 2220 & 2225, MATH 1050 and MATH 1040, and ATMO 1020. ENVS 1400 & 1405 combined are equivalent to BTNY 1403 at WSU. BIOL 1610 & 1615 combined are equivalent to ZOOL 1110. BIOL 2220 & 2225 combined are equivalent to ZOOL 3450.
- Students wishing to transfer to the Earth, Energy, and Environmental Sciences B.S. - Environmental Science Emphasis at Utah Technical University should take ENVS 1400 & 1405, GEO 1110 & 1115, CHEM 1210 & 1215, CHEM 1220 & 1225, BIOL 1610 & 1615, MATH 1060, and PHYS 2010.
- Students wishing to transfer to Wildland Resources majors (including Wildlife Ecology and Management, Rangeland Ecology and Management, Conservation and Restoration Ecology, and Forest Ecology and Management) at Utah State University should take CHEM 1210 & 1215, CHEM 1220, BIOL 1610 & 1615, BIOL 1620 & 1625, BIOL 2220 & 2225, MATH 1210 and MATH 2040.
