Plan of Study 2022-2023

The following is a plan of requirements to complete this Associate of Applied Science degree in 2 years. Each student’s experience will vary slightly, as this plan does not include transfer work, Advanced Placement (AP), or other institutions’ concurrent enrollment credits. Math and English placement will be based on the student’s appropriate placement scores. If developmental courses are required, they should be taken in the student’s first semester.

NOTE: This plan assumes the student is prepared to take the courses listed. If prerequisites are required, additional semesters may be required to complete this degree.

Meet with the Academic Program Advisor and consult DegreeWorks for specific degree requirements.

Advising Notes

Students should begin taking their placement MATH class as soon as possible. Students needing to take preparatory MATH classes to meet prerequisites of first semester courses should plan on extra time for program completion. Several courses in the program require prerequisites so student should include sequencing of courses in their course planning.

This program is designed to transfer to both the BS Atmospheric Sciences and the BS Environmental and Sustainability Studies at the University of Utah, but recommended course sequences are different for each program.

The following course are recommended for completion of general education requirements as they help fulfill required and prerequisites courses at the University of Utah:

  • CM: Recommend GEOG 1800
  • HU: Recommend PHIL 2300
  • LS: Recommend BIOL 1400 & 1405

Some of the junior (5000) level courses in the BS Atmospheric Sciences courses at the University of Utah have prerequisites of MATH 1220 and PHYS 2210.

Students are encouraged to contact their intended transfer institution and department for up-to-date program information.
