Plan of Study 2022-2023

The following is a plan of requirements to complete this Associate of Pre-Engineering degree in 3 years. Each student’s experience will vary slightly, as this plan does not include transfer work, Advanced Placement (AP), or other institutions’ concurrent enrollment credits. Math and English placement will be based on the student’s appropriate placement scores. If developmental courses are required, they should be taken in the student’s first semester.

NOTE: This plan assumes the student is prepared to take the courses listed. If prerequisites are required, additional semesters may be required to complete this degree.

Meet with the Academic Program Advisor and consult DegreeWorks for specific degree requirements.

Advising Notes

*MATH 1050 and MATH 1060 are not part of the Engineering APE degree but are required prerequisites for students who do not place into MATH 1210 (Calculus I).

Students intending to transfer to any four-year university other than the University of Utah should also take CPE 2700 Fund of Digital System Design.

This plan assumes students are prepared to begin their mathematical courses with MATH 1050.  MATH 1050 and MATH 1060 are not required courses for the Engineering APE degree but are typical placements for incoming students. Students with placement into higher level mathematics courses should start with MATH 1210, which is a required course for the Engineering APE degree. Well prepared students may substitute MATH 1080 for MATH 1050 / MATH 1060. MATH 2270 combined with MATH 2280 can substitute for MATH 2250. Students should check with their transfer institution before committing to one path over the other. Where possible students should be advised to take ENGR 1010 the semester prior to MATH 1210.  The only prerequisite for ENGR 1010 is MATH 1050 or MATH 1080.
